Chad Hilyard
Chief Executive Officer
Chad Hilyard is the co-founder and CEO of Celerity IP, where he leads a team of highly experienced technology and patent licensing professionals in the management and licensing of first-class patent portfolios.
Chad has over 25 years of intellectual property law and business experience. Prior to co-founding Celerity IP, Chad was Chief Legal Officer for Hilco IP Merchant Banking, where he had significant responsibility for licensing and litigating standard essential patents. This included General Counsel for PanOptis and Unwired Planet, during its landmark litigations in the UK and the Eastern District of Texas.
Chad also previously served as Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at Rockstar Consortium, where he and his team were responsible for patent assertions and licensing discussions, litigations, and patent portfolio management for the world-class patent portfolio obtained from Nortel. Prior to Rockstar, he was Managing Counsel at LSI Corporation and Agere Systems and was a partner at a Townsend and Townsend and Crew.
Tim Berghuis
President & Strategic Advisor
Tim Berghuis is the co-founder and President & Strategic Advisor of Celerity IP. Celerity IP is a company of highly experienced technology and patent licensing professionals involved in the management and licensing of first-class patent portfolios, primarily focused on standard essential patents (SEPs).
Previously, Tim was the Chief Licensing Officer at InterDigital, where he worked for over 19 years. There, he led the successful execution of a licensing program for one of the world’s largest cellular SEP portfolios. During Tim’s tenure, InterDigital achieved licensing revenue exceeding $300 million annually. Prior to joining InterDigital, Tim worked at Motorola, where he held various roles in product development and product management, for their cellular infrastructure business.
Tim earned his MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Business. He earned his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University and MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois-Chicago. He currently lives in the greater Philadelphia area with his wife, Molly
